Finally, the much hyped and awaited Tamilnadu election came to an end. The counting of the vote will happen on 13th May, 2011. There has been lot of positive that we can derive from this election
First of all, the manner in which the election commission conducted the whole process starting from the announcement of the election date till today was very commendable. Once the incumbent chief minister lamented that the state is witnessing an emergency kind of situation but it was rather the normalcy which was absent during the past election which made him comment in such a way. No cone speakers, no flashing posters and regular checking of vehicles gave the impression that this election commission is not going to budge to any pressure. Overall, it was a heartening development in the state, which one hope will spill over to the country, that will give us a chance to become a developed country in the near future.
There were so many pre-election prediction that made rounds all over the media. Its my turn to give some predictions too. If one goes by the mood of the voters and the pulse of the election, it looks like the AIADMK combine will win 151 seats, DMK will win 80 seats and rest for the independents. The actual figures will emerge on the 13th of May, 2011 until then we just have give this election hype a break. Kudos to the election commission and especially to the CEC as well as the state election commissioner, we are proud of you.

Vote:Next 5 years of your life depends on it
The government has announced holiday in the state which is going for poll on April 13th to make sure everyone gets a chance to vote, if he/she is eligible, on the D-day. The holiday announcement itself gives us the responsibility of voting in the election.
As a responsible citizen, who gets affected by each and every policy, action and inaction of the government, we should go to the polling booth and exercise our franchise, whether it depends on our liking/dislike or allegiance. There is no reason why one should abstain from voting other than some extremely difficult conditions like illness.
Its a know fact that human neglect things when they are pampered with too much of convenience. The voting booth will be located close to your premise, other than very rare occasions you might not need to stand in the queue for 30 minutes or more. A 30 minutes ordeal will decide the fate of the state for the next 5 years. Even if you don't like any party you have the provision of 49 to express your opinion.
The election machinery is slowly getting into act to create a free and fair polling atmosphere and we should take advantage of that. Freebies of any kind is a bribe whether it is awarded before or after the poll therefore if you are averse of any freebies make your point, choose 49 or candidates who you think can make a difference in the system.
You contemplate so much even to buy small things for example even a small pen, you analyse so much to invest, likewise analyse before you vote. You bargain so much with one shop keeper to buy one item, just bear that in mind. If price rise has dont some harm to you and you want to send a strong message to the people in the government or if you think that infrastructure has improved and want to drive home that message, KINDLY VOTE. ITS YOUR LIFE, ITS NOW OR AFTER 5 YEARS.

Anna Hazare: Our very own Indian Thatha

Its a bizarre irony that a crusader is on a hunger strike when corruption has breached all boundaries including the process of electing a government itself. One of the 4 states which is going for poll in this month has become notorious for cash-for-vote scam which is unprecedented and has put the whole concept of democracy in a morbid state.
Anna Hazare, the people champion, who has been instrumental in making the RTI act a reality has once again taken up a novel cause against politicians to root out corruption from the government machinery. Media is abuzz with this hunger strike of Mr. Hazare and we hope and pray to the government of India to save this gentleman and thereby save the pride of the country through transparent and efficient mechanism to fight the corruption menace.
The government might have witnessed similar hunger strike from none other than a chief minister of a state, which everyone knows that it was staged and orchestrated by the ruling party of the state and the centre and should not shrug off the hunger strike given by Mr. Hazare in similar manner. Its high time that the government show some sincerity in its commitment to tackle corruption and make serious attempts to make Jan Lokpal bill into a law.
Kamal Hasan has this uncanny knack of portraying someone or something in the silver screen that has become a reality afterwards. Anna Hazare closely resembles the character Kamal Hasan has played in "Indian", a senior citizen, who wages a lonely battle against corruption in the country. For modern Indian Anna Hazare is the real "Indian Thatha" and we salute the spirit of this Great Indian and I personally pledge my support to his movement.

Chidambaram's dubious distinction
It gives me a great pain in writing this post. I have seen many people doing lot of things to promote their constituency but what's happening in the constituency of Chidambaram MP is quiet a miserable thing.
I went on a trip to Sirkali yesterday and stopped by at Chidambaram to visit the temple. Since the time i entered into the temple till the time i boarded a bus i witnessed many girls between the age of 8 to 14, some with babies in their hip begging on the busy streets of Chidambaram and its quiet rampant to say the least.
I can understand that the begging small children might not have voted during the election which catapulted him to become an MP but the onus squarely lies on him to check the conditions of this begging girl children and providing ample facilities so that they don't wander in the street barefooted with a baby in the hip and begging the tourists and common people.
It is certainly a blemish in his tenure as a Chidambaram MP that he is allowing such things to happen in his constituency. Hope he understands the ground reality and do something for these people rather than spending his constituency fund on other unnecessary things.

India etched in World Cup 2011
Sachin has rightful claimed the place of the greatest cricketer ever since yesterday by being part of a world cup winning team. India won the CWC 2011 and in style with a six from the man who lead the team all along, MSD.
MSD, another explanation for the abbreviation is MicroSoft Dynamics and MSD has been MicroSoft in his approach and Dynamic in his leadership skills. Yuvraj has come off age and have moulded himself as of the greatest Indian player that have played for the country, the team might not have been so formidable if not for Virender Sehwag, who blasts away any pressure the opposition might have thought of creating from the very first ball.
Zaheer has been impeccable in his line and length ably supported by Munaf. Gambhir and Virat Kohli shined now and then whenever the team needed them. Raina, Ashwin, Yusuf and Nehra chipped in when the opportunity was given to them.
Overall its a victory for a wonderful cricket team and a spare of thought to the Srilankan team who did very well to reach the final and give the Indian team a run for their money with an amazing bowling and batting display.
I might not be surprised if the team fails to sustain its winning streak, but all we needed is the world cup and we brought it home. Jai Ho
