Anna Hazare: Our very own Indian Thatha

Its a bizarre irony that a crusader is on a hunger strike when corruption has breached all boundaries including the process of electing a government itself. One of the 4 states which is going for poll in this month has become notorious for cash-for-vote scam which is unprecedented and has put the whole concept of democracy in a morbid state.

Anna Hazare, the people champion, who has been instrumental in making the RTI act a reality has once again taken up a novel cause against politicians to root out corruption from the government machinery. Media is abuzz with this hunger strike of Mr. Hazare and we hope and pray to the government of India to save this gentleman and thereby save the pride of the country through transparent and efficient mechanism to fight the corruption menace.

The government might have witnessed similar hunger strike from none other than a chief minister of a state, which everyone knows that it was staged and orchestrated by the ruling party of the state and the centre and should not shrug off the hunger strike given by Mr. Hazare in similar manner. Its high time that the government show some sincerity in its commitment to tackle corruption and make serious attempts to make Jan Lokpal bill into a law.

Kamal Hasan has this uncanny knack of portraying someone or something in the silver screen that has become a reality afterwards. Anna Hazare closely resembles the character Kamal Hasan has played in "Indian", a senior citizen, who wages a lonely battle against corruption in the country. For modern Indian Anna Hazare is the real "Indian Thatha" and we salute the spirit of this Great Indian and I personally pledge my support to his movement.

  1. Dear Anna and Anna-like souls, numerous followers of Anna, sincere Anti corruption organisations,

    i hail from Chennai.

On Dec 13th 2010, i penned a blog titled WANTED- A courageous soul to lead the second war of Indian independence - Pl click http://gatesandwindows.blogspot.com/2010/12/wanted-courageous-and-pure-soul-to-lead.html

And benevolent Almighty brings Anna to the forefront NOW in four months flat!!. I feel very happy. So must be Shri.Brahma Chellaney whose article provided the base for my writing.

Tell me what should we do. You know South Indians suffer silently, mostly 'Satvics'. Tell us, how to wake them up?

i understand that organisations like 5th Pillar have been denied permission to stage a protest in Chennai. Some people pray in temples as a mark of protest.

Anna, we are all with you in waging this Second War of Indian Independence!(Against corruption, now a national security threat!)

Tell me Anna, what should i do NOW? Am unable to keep quiet, like many of us. Of course will 1ly go/do the Ahimsa way, without blood shed!

Accept my sincere prayers for your good health. India needs you Anna!

I end with my revered Pranams to Anna and Anna-like souls.

    With unconditional Love,

  3. Dear JK, Yesterday 500 odd Chennaites converged on the sands of Marina. The behaviour of the foot soldiers was seen to be believed, that even the cops privately applauded their conduct! Now, icing on the cake! A school going girl asked me "Uncle, can we join the fast tomorrow after school hours? Would you give an opportunity?" What do we have to SAY for this dear? All I wish to SAY is the same - THAT "The second war of Indian Independence has just begun!" We ALL need to follow the Ahimsa way laced with Chatrapathi Sivaji's intelligence! Jai Hind!
